Missionary life is full of blessings and challenges. With a team spread across multiple countries, it is important to have an intentional approach to caring for their needs. The missionary care coordinator works as part of the regional Africa team to prepare for the arrival of new missionaries, provide support for the whole family while serving, respond with face to face support during emergency situations, and more.

In order to carry out our work to spread the Gospel, plant Lutheran churches, and show mercy we need healthy, resilient missionaries. Missionary care coordinators help make that possible. They work as part of a larger regional team to plan regional retreats, with programming for adults and children. They help new missionaries adjust to international service by facilitating the on-field missionary orientation program.

Background & Characteristics of Missionary Care Coordinators

✚ Active LCMS member
✚ Strong sense of Lutheran identity
✚ Bachelor’s degree with credentials in counseling, psychiatry, or psychology
✚ Speaks a foreign language, or willingness to learn
✚Demonstrated resilience.
• Demonstrated leadership and diplomatic skills.
