Our brothers and sisters in the Dominican Republic are eager to offer Sunday School for the children in their congregations. However, they do not have a legacy of Sunday School experience to draw upon. Your team will host a workshop for Sunday School teachers, to help them grow in their teaching skills.
You’ll plan a workshop that focuses on the basics of pedagogy: classroom management, lesson planning, etc. The volunteer Sunday school teachers at Iglesia Luterana Amigos de Cristo in Santo Domingo will be your audience.
As Lutherans, we know how important it is for children to be nurtured in their faith. An excellent Sunday School program can help raise up the next generation of young Lutherans in the DR who are firmly rooted in their faith. And it is a great way to augment the efforts to plant Lutheran churches in the DR.
Note: the team members need to have teaching experience, especially in a Sunday school or Lutheran school setting. It would also be very helpful if team members could speak Spanish.
This is a great opportunity for a team that is already formed to serve.

Cost: typically $120-$130/person/night (airfare not included)
Cost Includes: food, lodging, on-field transportation, coordination and international medical insurance.
